GOTTA SEE IT: Canadiens Players React To Pezzetta Celly
Paul Rutherford-USA TODAY Sports

Montreal Canadiens forward not only secured the win for his team in the shootout, but created a moment that will last for years to come; for fans and his teammates.

Head coach Martin St-Louis made a few perplexing choices for the Canadiens during their shootout attempts.

Going with Mike Matheson and Johnathan Kovacevic to take part in the sudden-death portions of the shootout, it was evident that St-Louis was willing to think outside of the box in his choices to win his club the game.

However, his choice to tap Michael Pezzetta to shoot ahead of players like Kirby Dach and Rafaël Harvey-Pinard surprised everyone in attendance and all those watching at home.

It wasn’t a surprise to the Canadiens however, as many teammates, including Jake Allen, had mentioned that Pezzetta was a sneaky shootout expert that simply never got the chance to show what he could do; until now.

Not only did St-Louis win his gamble when Pezzetta wired home the game-winner, but he also gave Canadiens fans meme material for the next decade with Pezzetta’s hilarious celebration.

However, fans weren’t the only ones to thoroughly enjoy the moment, as Montreal Canadiens players couldn’t hold back their shock and laughter from what they had just witnessed.

Heading back to the locker room, players and coaching staff shuffled in disbelief; laughing their way into the room and simply shaking their heads at what they had just witnessed.

Chris Wideman and Rem Pitlick likely had the best reactions of the group, looking both absolutely dazed and floored by what just transpired on the ice.

Micheal Pezzetta’s hommage to Tiger Williams’ classic celebration will likely be on every single 2022-2023 season highlight reel simply for the comedic value and clutch outcome, but it’s surely to be a major group-building moment for this young team as they look to close out the year in style.
