Barcelona are set to ignore the ultimatum given to them by Vitor Roque ‘s agent Andre Cury during his outburst on Catalan radio on Sunday night. The Brazilian agent told the world that either Xavi Hernandez would play his client or they would seek a permanent transfer, amid talk that Xavi has told the club he would be best off going on loan for some game time.

As per Marca, Barcelona will pay little attention to Cury’s warnings. Their view is that nobody from outside the club defines the transfer policy nor the team selection at the club, and he will not be given more minutes nor retained this summer as result of the pressure applied by Cury. They also claim that Cury’s remarks about Xavi not speaking to Roque are false, as he has had numerous meetings with the 19-year-old.

Sport report that Barcelona believe that Cury has crossed a line, and while it is acknowledged that Cury does not speak for Roque, there is a certain uneasiness at the idea the striker could have expressed similar opinions to those of Cury. Either way, it’s an uncomfortable situation for Roque, Xavi and the club.

Were his price tag not so high, and the situation at Barcelona not so desperate, it seems unlikely that there would be this much focus on his lack of minutes, but the combination of the two, alongside the increased questioning of Xavi, has led to a situation where Cury has felt able to publicly chastise the Barcelona coach.
